Palm Springs, Part 2

Did you get a chance to read part one of my Palm Springs posts? It talks all about the fabulous boutique hotel, Holiday House, we visited and the fun activities they have to offer. It truly was the perfect place to call “home” for three days. You can check it out, here. For this post, I wanted to talk about the shopping, dinners and extra fun we had outside our hotel. I will also talk about a few other activities I wish we had time to get to, but definitely will next time!

Our hotel was literally a block from the main strip of shops and restaurants, making it very easy to walk to and from most places. The second day we were there, we had lunch at this really fun Mexican restaurant called Las Casuelas Terraza. It instantly reminded me of our favorite restaurant back home. Everything was delicious and I washed it down with a mango margarita. Our bellies were full and we made our way back to our hotel to relax by the pool.

After some more pool time, we decided to drive over to the El Paseo shopping district. The outdoor mall has just about every store a gal like me could shop in. They also have a succulent and cacti space that adds to that Palm Springs atmosphere everyone has come to know. After shopping in Kate Spade, J. Crew, Anthropologie and Saks we worked up an appetite and figured we should freshen up before our dinner at The Ritz Carlton in Rancho Mirage.

The Ritz is a place we always try to visit any time we are near one. The attention to detail and the ambiance is on a different level than most hotels. Every resort is stunning and the Rancho Mirage location, did not disappoint. Our dinner couldn’t have been any more delicious! We started off our meal with cocktails and appetizers. My Pear Hemingway was delicious and so were the avocado fries. The sauce that accompanied it was fantastic and I could have licked the ramekins clean. I had my heart set on the short ribs which was served with cheddar grits and crispy onions. Every single bite melted in my mouth. Neil’s salmon was also perfectly cooked. My favorite part of the evening was listening to the live music and eating our dessert. Somehow, I managed to pull it together to eat that dessert and let me tell you….it was Ah-Mazing!

The next morning, we decided to get up early and walk along a couple trails before it became too hot. As much as I love the ocean, I was equally impressed by the beauty that is the desert. California sure is a gorgeous place to live.

After our walk, we headed over to a cute retro cafe just down the street from our hotel called Acqua California Bistro. If you can’t tell already, you will have learned that I love to eat and eat a lot! The crab cake eggs benedict was calling my name and I devoured each and every little bite of it. If you are in the area, this is a great place right in the heart of downtown Palm Springs with a HUGE breakfast menu and brunch. I definitely recommend checking it out.

Once we packed our bags and the hotel gifted us with love beads and chocolate covered fortune cookies, we drove over to “that pink door” to take a couple Palm Springs pictures. I was told your trip is not complete without them!

As I sit here writing this, my husband is reading over my shoulder. We had such a nice time just the two of us and can’t wait to make another trip out that way again. One thing I really wish we did was the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. It’s the largest rotating aerial tramway in the World and has hiking trails and restaurants at the top. It gives us an excuse to make a return visit very soon!
