Black and White Gingham Dress

With Springtime finally feeling like it’s here, I am able to pull out all of my fun dresses and accessories. It felt like it was never going to come after all of the rain we have seen this year in California. One thing’s for sure is the rain has made everything beautifully green and the flowers are starting to bloom. This is one of my favorite times of the year.

If one were to look in my closet, they would definitely know I have a thing for gingham. Two years ago, DVF came out with a blue and white gingham top and short set that I absolutely fell in love with which began this new obsession to find pretty and unique pieces to add to my closet. What is also really great about this print is that you can add a pop of color with shoes, a bag or earrings and change the look. This Vetiver dress is not only comfortable and oh so chic, but also a great dress that can be worn casually or dressed up. I can wear this to the grocery store to pick up the 6 gallons of milk we go through a week as a family or even to a daytime wedding. This piece is that versatile. I also love the peekaboo back detail. As you know, I am 9 months post op with spine surgery and have gravitated towards clothing that shows off parts of my 18 inch scar. I feel like this dress shows it off beautifully. The ONLY thing I wish for with this dress would be pockets. You know me and how I love pockets.

This darling hat by Eugenia Kim is also one of my new favorite items this season. Although her hats are on the pricier side, they are well made and fit perfectly. I have a boater hat from a few years ago by EK that still looks brand new and is certainly still in style. This one has a wider brim and the most adorable rhinestone details on the back side that spell out “Darling”. Let me tell you, this hat is definitely that! I did wait to get this on a flash sale event which saved me half the price. I know I will wear this all Spring and Summer and so for me, it was a good splurge item that I just couldn’t stop myself from buying. One thing I do with more expensive items is keep them in my cart at different stores online and check in every so often to see if they are running a promotion or going on sale. Some stores will even price match, like Nordstrom, which I love to earn rewards dollars for.

I have joined the cult following and got my very own Cult Gaia bag this season. It seems everyone on Instagram has this bag and now I know why. It’s definitely a bag that photographs well and is super cute with any of my springtime looks. I don’t see myself holding it while running errands with all of the kids, but it’s definitely a fabulous bag to take out on a lunch date with my husband. They also came out with a green one that I am eying as well.

Yesterday, while I was at work, my sister stole my iPad and tested to see if it can survive a twenty five foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My apple ipad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is totally off topic but I had to share it with someone!
