Tartan Plaid Blazer

Before I switch gears and focus on other holidays (you know I love to celebrate anything), I had to post about one of my favorite pieces I wore throughout the Thanksgiving to New Years season. I honestly think it can be worn through Valentine’s Day too and that’s just what I plan to do!

The month of December is a chaotic time of year. I have mentioned before all three boys in the family celebrate birthdays in December; with one being on Christmas Eve and another New Years Eve. Once our Disneyland trip had come and gone as well as my ballet studios performances (I actually wore this blazer to both events), I was finally able to relax and focus on Christmas. Relax is probably the wrong word too. How does one relax with four kids out of school running through the house pretending they are dinosaurs as the trample over wrapped presents and knock ornaments off the tree? And the snacking!!! How many snacks do they need? I have been a slave to our kitchen most of the days with almond butter and jelly sandwiches being one of my specialties. As much as I complain and kid around, I love them to pieces and watching the joy on their face as they run down to see what “Santa” brought them was priceless. Sure, Santa gets all the credit. When in reality, it was my husband spending three hours putting together the big toys while I was an elf, locked in my room, diligently wrapping every single present. Our team effort paid off and the kids were thrilled. I love Christmas.

Yesterday, I spent the day packing up all of the Christmas decor. We keep it up through Nicky’s birthday on New Year’s Eve. All of the pine needles are vacuumed up. I am sure we will find a stray few here and there for months to come, but for the most part, my house almost looks bare. Is it too soon to get out my Valentine’s decorations? No? Good…

There are so many ways you can use this blazer. I purchased the matching skinny pants to go with it as well. I wore them separately, here. On this day, I wore it downtown shopping and grabbing a bite to eat. I paired it with a cashmere red sweater, high waist skinny jeans and red flats. This tartan print has so many pretty colors you can pull from. It would easily look just as nice worn with a navy blue, green, white and quite possibly a yellow top.

What a statement piece, am I right or am I right? I loved this print so much, that I also purchased a puffer vest and button down in the SAME print. I am tartan obsessed. I did size down in the blazer and it fit perfectly. I normally wear a size 2 or 4 and went with the 0 in the blazer and 2 for the bottoms.

With February fast approaching, I will have a special gift guide dedicated to fun gifts to give your special someone, or yourself, on Valentine’s Day. On last years guide, I ended up purchasing half my own picks! Who says you can’t buy yourself a special gift? I am also going to include some awesome ideas for men as well. Look out of that soon!

This blazer is adorable, and it reminded me that I didn’t even get mine out this year! 🙁 I feel like December is the only acceptable time to wear a tartan item of clothing. lol. I can’t wait for your Valentine picks!
