Spaghetti and Meatball Recipe With Mezzetta

This is a sponsored post for Mezzetta. However, all opinions and recipes are my own.

Family style dinners are a thing over here at the Wagners! Since my ballet studio is still closed due to quarantine, and we spend all of our time at home, I’ve had more time to cook and bake some of my favorite recipes. I have fond memories of making meatballs in the kitchen with my parents and now, continue this tradition with my own little family. Today, I’m filling you in on my secret meatball recipe and giving it a little oomph using Mezzetta’s delicious products to elevate the taste even more!

About Mezzetta:

For over 75 years, Mezzetta company has brought delicious and healthful foods from the Mediterranean to the American table. This fourth generation family-owned and operated company, produces over 100 different specialty products. Not only do they have a wide variety of gourmet olives and peppers, Mezzetta has amazing pizza and pasta sauces as well as items like maraschino cherries! In addition to importing and packing specialty food products, Mezzetta sources a variety of fresh vegetables from local California farms for processing throughout the harvest season.

Meatball Recipe:

I don’t know about you, but spaghetti is something ALL of my kids love. It’s easy to make, super cost effective and tasty too! My meatballs are packed with flavor and I love making them in bulk and freezing them for extra meals down the road. So get your apron and chefs hat on and lets get started!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1/2 lb Ground Pork
  • 3 oz Minced Fresh Basil
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese
  • 3/4 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Jar Mezzetta Marinara Sauce (normally I use a large can of Italian diced tomatoes, but we are taking this recipe up a notch with Mezzetta Marinara)

Directions:

  • In a large bowl, combine beef, pork, panko, minced basil, parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix the ingredients together and form balls (approx. 1 1/2 inch balls).
  • Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a medium pan and add meatballs
  • Make sure to turn the meatballs as they cook and become browned all over.
  • Once cooked, add Mezzetta Marinara sauce to the pan and simmer for another 5-6 minutes.
  • Serve with spaghetti noodles (toss cooked noodles in Mezzetta Marinara Sauce).

To finish off my large family style platter of spaghetti, I added Mezzetta Pitted Greek Kalamata and Italian Castelvetrano Olives for added yumminess! Delicious!!! I also served an easy version of caprese to compliment our main course but took it to the next level using Mezzetta Basil Pesto and Imported Non-Pareil Capers. It was the perfect addition to fresh mozzarella, basil and tomatoes!
