We had such a fabulous time in the city over Thanksgiving break! During the Holiday season, one tradition that Neil and I have grown very fond of is visiting the Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco. I have always been a city girl at heart and there’s something so magical about visiting San Francisco during the Christmas season. This time, we decided to do a mini getaway just the two of us, however, next year, we hope to bring the whole family and partake in the various family activities that the Fairmont provides. It’s truly a one of a kind hotel and I am so excited to share with you our fun filled weekend while staying at the Fairmont Hotel.
After dropping off the kids and dog with our parents, we headed into the City after breakfast. The World-renowned Fairmont Hotel San Francisco is located atop Nob Hill and walking distance to Union Square and several other historic areas. Don’t feel like walking? Take a quick cable car ride! In fact, the Fairmont Hotel is the only spot in the City where each of the cable car lines meet.
The main lobby is magical ESPECIALLY during the Holidays. You cannot help but smile upon entrance when you see the awe inspiring Christmas tree and life sized (yes, life-sized) gingerbread house. During the weekend immediately following Thanksgiving, they have a fabulous Moet Chandon champagne station complete with champagne towers. The Fairmont Hotel also provides numerous Holiday activities for the family and kids, including a visit with Santa. We arrived prior to check in time, however, the amazing staff accommodated us and our room was available. Yippee, let’s get this weekend started!

Our room, located in the Tower building, was absolutely perfect. We’ve stayed in plenty of hotels and this by far was the best City view we have had. The Golden Gate Bridge along with Alcatraz and bay were also visible from our large room window.. It was quite impressive! To our surprise, the staff sent up a bottle of Chandon champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. It was the perfect beginning to our weekend away.

Once settled in, we left the hotel to do some Christmas shopping downtown and grab lunch. Every time I visit the City, I must order a lobster roll. Luckily, there are a plethora of places that serve them and I was in seafood Heaven. Our shopping trip was successful (well mainly for Neil) and we headed back to the Fairmont to sit out on their rooftop garden to enjoy a stunning skyline view and relax. Funny story….while Neil took pictures of the view and of me, an adorable nine year old girl came up to me, told me she loved my outfit and asked if I was a model. Ha ha….she reminded me so much of my Emma and I couldn’t help but laugh and say, “For right now I am.”

Normally when we come to the Fairmont Hotel, we eat at their famous Tonga Room, however, the Tonga Room was closed for a private party and so we headed in to Laurel Court. Now we have an excuse to come back to the Fairmont soon! The Tonga Room is my FAVORITE place to eat and listen to live music. The Laurel Court Restaurant and Bar received the Open Table Diner’s Choice Award for 2018; so we knew it was going to be good. I am happy to report that our meal was fantastic! From start to finish, everything we ate was amazing. Neil and I ordered appetizers first which included their Cheese and Charcuterie Board, French Onion Soup, and a Burrata Salad. Best French onion soup, period. I could have devoured two more bowls of that deliciousness. That is no joke! For our main course, I chose the Rigatoni dish while Neil ordered the NY Strip. We scraped our plates clean and left the restaurant completely satisfied.
Neil and I called it a night and headed back to the room where we sat by the window taking in the City lights and drinking some more of our favorite champagne.
The next morning, we ordered room service for breakfast and ate it in bed. I can’t tell you how convenient and enjoyable it is to have food brought to your room and snuggle in your pjs. This is yet another tradition Neil and I have begun with each of our hotel stays. Of course, I ordered eggs benedict because…lets just say I am obsessed with them. I also loved that the hollandaise sauce came in a little cup so I could choose how much to drench my eggs in (give me ALL the hollandaise).

After breakfast, we set out for another day of window shopping throughout the city as well as a quick trip into Chinatown. Although we checked out that morning, the Fairmont will hold your luggage until 4 pm which gave us ample time to shop and walk around.
If you are travelling into San Francisco, I absolutely recommend booking your stay with the Fairmont Hotel. From the luxurious, elegant décor to their impeccable service, the Fairmont Hotel San Francisco is such a special place to visit. Rich in history, this hotel has hosted presidents and celebrities alike. If you have a chance to pop into the coffee shop, there are numerous pictures and articles framed along the walk.
I want to thank Fairmont for turning our moments into memories during our stay. What a magical weekend that will hold a special place in our hearts forever. Until next time……

Wishing my room actually looked like this right now. It’s currently filled will piles of laundry waiting to be folded after our trip....
Disneyland 2026 🙌🏻 I made it ya’ll. Definitely sore, and fatigued and sleep deprived and the back pain is insane. But I did it. 🤣...
I debated jumping on the bandwagon to share my 2016 throwback. In all honesty, 2016 was the hardest year of my life. It’s something that I’m reminded of daily in this never ending cycle of chronic pain and illness. For those that are new here, in 2016 I underwent 3 surgeries within 4 days. My 14 level spine surgery consisted of 2 surgeries going through my back and side, and then I needed an emergency bowel resection 3 days later due to my colon twisting and flipping on itself. When I woke up from my spine surgery, I immediately moved my right foot and tried to then move my left. It turned out, they knicked my spinal cord and damaged it. I had no feeling in my left leg or foot. Didn’t know if I was moving it and it felt like nothing was there. I remember immediately panicking and because I still had a tube in my mouth, they gave me a paper to write down what was wrong. Drs came in and told my husband and I that they weren’t sure if I’d walk again and definitely sure I wouldn’t be dancing. I lost 25 lbs, a Picc line was put in to try and get me any nutrition. I threw up bile in bucket after bucket.
I didn’t see my kids for 3 1/2 weeks and then had to be moved to a nursing facility. Once home, I had nurses and PT that would come to our house because staying in that facility and not seeing my kids drove me insane (my youngest was only 17 months old). Neil had to shower me, and wipe my butt 🙈. I went through 18 months of PT pushing myself to prove them all wrong. When I think about the last 10 years (and 2016 in particular), it has been a nonstop uphill battle for me. During that same year, we learned that both our daughters would then be diagnosed with the same thing. This is why I keep pushing forward no matter how I feel mentally or physically. I need to show these kids that mama can handle it and I want them to remember how strong I’ve tried to be because some day they may be faced with this same decision. I played this song on repeat laying in the hospital.
