Neil and I recently took a much needed two day trip to Mendocino, Ca. It was the first time either of us had been there and boy, was it amazing. Months ago, I came across the most adorable resort in Little River, a town a few miles from Mendocino, called Heritage House Resort. I had begged Neil over and over if we could stay there at some point. What can I say, somehow, I was immediately drawn to it. So, we planned a weekend trip and dropped the kiddies off with my in-laws and made our way up the coast to Heritage House Resort.
The drive from the Bay Area for us took approximately three hours. We drove through Napa valley and through the redwood forest. There were so many spots we wanted to pull over just to take in the impressive redwoods. It really is a sight to behold; natural beauty in all it’s glory. I loved every second of it and didn’t mind the drive at all. We arrived at Heritage House Resort and if you watched my Instagram stories, you saw how cute the main entrance is! The vine covered yellow cottage is something out of a storybook and truly unique.

After check in and devouring some of their welcome cookies, we drove up to our room. I must say, our room was fantastic! I was pleasantly surprised at how large and spacious the room was. Not only did it include a separate sitting area equipped with a fireplace and a T.V, but it had a HUGE soaking tub, shower and his and hers sinks. The best part by far, though, was the incredible breathtaking view from our private sun deck. Pictures don’t do it justice! Neil and I could have sat there for hours just soaking in the beauty that is the ocean. And….so we did.
After freshening up and unpacking a bit, we made our way to their on site restaurant and bar. They have a great deck with fire pits and lounge chairs. After ordering at the bar, we sat outside to soak in the gorgeous views. I ordered a French 75 which was the first time trying one. I loved it. A French 75 is a mix between two of my favorite drinks, champagne and a mojito. We also ordered the cheese plate and fresh focaccia bread. Both appetizers were delicious. Neil was a fan of the fresh honeycomb, while I ate up all the bread and amazing rosemary butter. I may or may not have licked the butter plate clean. What a great start to our trip!
Once it became a little chilly outside, we decided to sit inside at their lounge area which looks like a place out of an old western movie. It was one of my favorite spots at the resort. There we played board games and drank cocktails while listening to the waves crash against the cliffs.
We ended up going for a walk along Heritage House Resort to watch the sunset along the cliff by the gazebo and then order room service for Dinner. All the food was fabulous and you couldn’t beat the romantic ambience with the view from our sun deck. I ordered the special of the night which was Ahi tuna and mashed potatoes as well as the goat cheese balls. Soooooo good!Honestly, every single thing we ordered from their restaurant was perfect and the best in the area!
The next morning, we woke up bright and early to head to brunch. I swear, brunch is my favorite meal of the day and I could eat crab cake eggs benedict for all of them too! It’s just too yummy. On the way to brunch, we stopped to enjoy all the gorgeous purple flowers that were sprinkled across the resort. It quite literally feels like you are in a secret garden along the ocean. I think this was one of Neil’s favorite things to photograph on the trip.

After brunch, we headed out to Mendocino for the day. Later in the week, I will be talking about our experience downtown and in the surrounding area in part two. We enjoyed our two day getaway immensely and I hope to come back to the resort again in the near future. I have always been drawn to the ocean ever since I was a little girl and this beautiful place filled me with such great memories. The food was amazing, all the people working at Heritage House were delightful and the scenery and views you take in while there are unsurpassed. I also want to mention they have a private beach on site where we witnessed the most beautiful sunset and collected abalone shells for the kids. I love this place.
Stay tuned for part two later this week! xoxo

SAVE AND SHARE THIS RECIPE! This is an insanely easy way to make Raspberry Lemon Tarts with minimal steps and ingredients! As much as I love making lemon curd from scratch, sometimes, it’s just nice to cut some corners!
•6-7 oz of Lemon Curd (I used @mackays) you will have left over. I showed the second half of my tarts being made.
•2 packs of puff pastry
•8 oz of whipped cream (I made my own with heavy whipping cream and a little vanilla extract and sugar)
•20 raspberries
Preheat the oven to 400°. Using a cookie cutter or top of a cup (approx 2 inches), cut circles out of the puff pastry. Place the circles of puff pastry into each mini muffin pan cup. Don’t forget to spray the mini muffin pan with nonstick spray like avocado oil! Place on the oven for 10-12 minutes. In a bowl, add the lemon curd and whipped cream and mix well. Stick in the refrigerator until the puff pastry is baked and cooled down. Add the lemon mixture to the puff pastry cups (tip: take a spoon after the puff pastry comes out of the oven and push the centers in). Add raspberry to the top and a little powdered sugar and there ya have it! Super easy, mini bite size desserts that are perfect for that Mothers Day brunch coming up! #puffpastry #minidesserts #easyrecipes ...
It’s that time of year where I can wear white pants again 🙌🏻🤣 Yay for Spring…. ...
Always sad leaving our favorite camping spot…we’ve been bringing the kids here 2-3 times a year for the last 5 years and it never gets old. Sure, we could bring them to SoCal, where it’s warmer and packed with a crap ton of people. However, we much prefer the cooler weather (helps with my POTS), rocky cliffs, less people and you travel through the redwood forest (which looks like a storybook). We love it up here and fantasize about moving somewhere like this once Nicky graduates. See you in June Westport…. ...
In my happy place for a long weekend….Comment COAST and I’ll send the link for this cute sweater (comes in East Coast too)!
