This is a sponsored post with Mendocino Grove. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
When I think of activities to do in the Summer, camping is always at the top of the list! Long ago, one of the first weekends away Neil and I took together was camping up near Yosemite. I look back on those memories fondly and have always been one up for adventure! Since my surgeries, camping hasn’t really been in the cards for us as a family; even though its something we would love to do. Listen, I can definitely rough it, ha. However, a bed is now a must have when we do any type of excursion. I was ecstatic to find Mendocino Grove in all it’s glamping glory!
Nestled among the redwoods overlooking the ocean, Mendocino Grove is camping made comfy. Down comforters, crisp linens, hot showers and fully stocked bathrooms take camping to a whole new level. They even have a yoga class and catered dinner on Friday nights!
Our drive up from the Bay Area was approximately 3 hours and the last hour is beyond beautiful as you wind through the redwoods and along the ocean. Upon arrival, you can conveniently order firewood for your personal firepit located near your tent along with other items that come in handy during your stay. We stopped by the local market and picked up all the necessities like beer and champagne (ha ha) before heading over there along with some food and all the fixings for smores! Neil and I were ready for our peaceful glamping trip alone.
Our tent was situated on a mountain overlooking the ocean and the dreamy town of Mendocino. We unpacked, filled the cooler up with ice and drinks and headed over to our favorite place to eat (Heritage House) for a late lunch. Get the crab dip…it’s my favorite! Once we filled our bellies, we headed back to Mendocino Grove and mingled in the common area where you can sip on complimentary tea and coffee or play board games. Back at our tent, we started a fire, played some tunes on our Bose speaker and drank champagne in red solo cups! If you saw my Instagram stories, I’m sure you had a laugh! If you missed it, you can check them out on my profile, apriljwagner, under “Glamping”. You’re welcome…….
We woke up the next day to the birds chirping in the trees that surrounded us. It was such a pleasant sound to wake up to. We decided to walk the grounds and explore. Mendocino Grove has over 50 tents on approximately 37 acres of wooded paradise. I also want to note that all of our fellow campers were so nice and welcoming. With each person we passed, they stopped to say Hello or smile and wave. We stumbled upon the morning yoga class as we made our way down the path toward the beach. There you can rent canoes and kayaks at Catch-A-Canoe.
After our morning stroll, we drove back into Mendocino for some wood fired pizza (uhhh YUM!). The hydrangeas were in full bloom and in was magical! I can’t wait to plant our own in the garden at our new house.
Back at Mendocino Grove, we hit the showers, which by the way, are fantastic! Each stall is private, stocked with shampoo, conditioner, bodywash and clean! This is my kind of camping!
It was time for dinner. We roasted hotdogs, chicken skewers and shrimp. I had one too many red solo cups of champagne and danced to Blake Shelton on the tent platform. Good times! That is also on my Instagram stories, courtesy of my lovely husband, Neil.
The next morning, we grabbed some complimentary coffee at the Meadow Commons and packed up the car. We had such a great time and can’t wait to return with the kids (they have tents that can easily fit a family of 6 with two bunk beds and a queen bed)!
We were honestly sad to leave. Mendocino is such a pretty place to explore and one we frequently visit . I love these little getaways Neil and I get to experience together. It’s such a great way to reconnect, relax and de-stress, which is something this mama of four desperately needs from time to time! Mendocino Grove was the perfect mixture of comfy and camping and we had such an amazing time glamping in style!
Aaaaahhhh Heritage House Resort, oh how we love visiting you! Neil and I went …
Last post, I wrote about the amazing resort, Heritage House, that Neil and I stayed …
