Last post, I wrote about the amazing resort, Heritage House, that Neil and I stayed at when we visited Mendocino, Ca. Today, I wanted to go into detail over the various activities and sights we saw while there for our two day weekend getaway. If you haven’t had a chance to read part one, click here.
After our first night there, we got up and went to breakfast at Little River Inn. Nestled on a hill overlooking the ocean, it was the perfect start to our day. Wisteria and daisies are sprinkled throughout this charming B&B. Breakfast was delicious. Whenever, we look for a place for brunch, I always scroll down the menu to search for some type of eggs benedict. Yes, I am that gal. They had crab cake eggs benedict and of course, being my absolute fav, I ordered that immediately and washed it down with fresh squeezed orange juice. Neil got an omelet and he was equally stuffed and satisfied.
After breakfast, we walked around for a bit before heading off for Mendocino.

After breakfast, we drove along the ocean to Mendocino. I simply adore the mixture of Victorian homes and businesses that line the shoreline. It seems like the perfect place for me. We parked and walked up and down the main streets. We did a little shopping and found some of the most adorable stores. I have been on the hunt for some new turquoise jewelry and I was on a mission. There were a couple jewelry stores with some pretty pieces.
Since I hadn’t had my morning coffee, we stopped in a cute coffee shop along Main St. and I got an extra large iced latte. We found a cute garden to sit down and rest for a bit while I drank my huge coffee.
After walking downtown, and getting a stain on my white skirt, I changed and we drove up to Fort Bragg and visited the Botanical Gardens. Now this was something I thoroughly enjoyed! We came during Rhododendron blooms which were scattered across the large garden. My favorite part along the walk was that it meets up to the ocean. It’s just the perfect place to get lost and wander and relax. We saw a family of deer roaming the grounds along a creek and birds chirped in the trees hanging over us. It was beautiful.
After that, we drove up to Glass Beach to take in the magnificent ocean views and take a peek at the bits of glass on the beach.

We had early reservations for dinner at a place in Little River called Wild Fish. I am a lover of seafood and Wild Fish had some pretty interesting and delicious sounding entrees. Wild Fish is a very TINY restaurant. It actually is attached to a post office and gas station but don’t be fooled. It truly is one of a kind. Our food was AMAZING, however, I was not thrilled with their customer service. Neil and I didn’t order wine or champagne because we were waiting until we were back at our fabulous sun deck at Heritage House for that. It seemed like that annoyed our waitress and she went back to the other waitresses and mocked us and rolled her eyes. Sorry, lady that my Lavender Lemonade was not good enough for ya, although it was delicious. We did love the Seafood Feast that came with half a crab. I scarfed the entire thing down with a table napkin tucked into my shirt! I’m sure Neil was embarrassed but also equally impressed with my skill.
We went back to our hotel room, I put yoga pants on and we hiked down to the private beach on our resort for another excellent sunset, popped open a bottle of champagne and cuddled.
Later that night, we decided we were still hungry and ordered up room service. In all honesty, the food at Heritage House was fabulous and I would recommend that even if you aren’t staying there, you should definitely eat there at some point! The views are incomparable and the food is delicious.
The next morning before we embarked on our drive home, we stopped by Little River Inn AGAIN for breakfast! I’m telling you to go there for that crab eggs benedict! It’s delish!
We are currently planning another trip out that way because we loved it so so much! If you are thinking about visiting, check out Heritage House and let them know you read about it here!
