Can you believe it! It’s 2020?! Before we rang in the new year, Neil and I took a quick trip into the city for a fun and much needed date night. Our place of choice to spend our evening away was the Palace Hotel San Francisco! Read on to find out why Palace Hotel holds a special place in our heart.
A true San Francisco icon since 1875, the Palace Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is a renowned historic landmark in one of the World’s most extraordinary cities. Nestled amongst the Financial District, the Palace Hotel is within walking distance to Union Square, a variety of shopping, delicious eateries and tourist attractions. Dripping with historic perfection, the Palace Hotel is the perfect place to stay while visiting San Francisco, not to mention their fabulous amenities and staff!
After dropping the kids off with the in-laws, Neil and I headed into the City. I’ll admit, it took us a while to get there. Not because of traffic, but because we left Neil’s dinner outfit and shoes at the house and had to turn around. Then, we realized the camera was left in our van which we left with Neil’s Mom. So……the beginning of our date night was a little chaotic! Whether it’s q-tips, my curling iron or socks. We always seem to forget something!
It was a gorgeous sunny day in San Francisco as we drove up to the Palace Hotel. Christmas trees, lights and wreaths decorated the Hotel’s grand lobby. Boy do I love the Holidays in the City! The main lobby where the Garden Court Restaurant is located is definitely one of my favorite places here. The ceilings are adorned in gorgeous gold trimmed glass domes, ornate chandeliers and marble columns. Indeed, this atmosphere seemed fitting for a King and Queen.

Jon, the Palace Hotel Manager, greeted us with a warm welcome and checked us in. After a quick walk around the hotel, we headed up to our room. Neil and I have stayed in many places, but this room by far, exceeded our expectations! So much so, that I began dancing around the suite singing when there was a knock on our door! Pretty sure they heard me. Where is the laughing emoji when you need one?! Management sent up a delicious display of sweets along with a bottle of Cartier champagne and a gift. Have you ever had a sugar covered rose petal? Me neither. Let me tell you…..they are AH-MAZING (we brought a few home for the kids and now Will has asked to move here just to eat these)! I have my Insta stories pinned to my profile if you want to take a look, HERE. We stayed in the Palace Suite and boy did we feel like King and Queen! Eleven foot ceilings, authentic crown molding and prime views of historic Market Street are just some of this suites impressive features. We were on cloud nine!

Once we dropped off our things and ate our mini cupcakes and crème brulee, we decided to check out their on site bar and restaurant, Pied Piper. Here we ordered cocktails (Neil’s an old fashioned kind of guy while I tried their signature “The Last Cocktail”) and a few appetizers to hold us over before dinner. I’ll just tell ya right now, this weekend had a lot to do with food! The Beer Battered Prawns were sensational. I cannot confirm or deny that the tartar sauce ramekin was licked clean. We also LOVED the Burrata and Candied Bacon Dip that came with fresh breadsticks and a pretzel the size of my head! Bravo Pied Piper, we loved it all!

We had reservations at Gary Danko, a Michelin Star rated restaurant, for dinner. It was quite the meal and something new for us to experience! We met a sweet elder couple named Spike and Phyllis who eats dinner there weekly. Of course they were from New York and we chatted it up. There are so many cuisine options to choose from when dining here in SF.
We arrived back at the Palace and sat in the GC lounge where we listened to live music and relaxed. Then, for a second time, we made an appearance at the Pied Piper to snack on crab guacamole and cocktails.
Feeling pretty tipsy and after A LOT of laughing, Neil and I called it a night and went back to our room. In the suite, there is a chess table and I challenged Neil to a game. Just want to throw this out there…. I beat Neil. Ha ha!
The next morning, we ordered breakfast in bed from the Palace Hotel Garden Court Restaurant. Crab Eggs Benedict, Brioche French Toasts and Gourmet Omelets were among some of the dishes we ordered. Mmmmm. So tasty. I’ve eaten my fair share of crab eggs benedict, and these were phenomenal! Malia, one of the Palace Hotels top concierge associates, personally delivered our meal to make sure everything was perfect. In fact, Malia had a hand in making sure our entire visit went smoothly and that we were pampered every step of the way! She, as well as all the Palace Hotel staff including their awesome manager, Jon, were wonderful. I honestly felt like Beyoncé at one point! Ha ha ha!

I want to thank the Palace Hotel for an incredible stay! The Palace Hotel holds a special place in our hearts. It was the first place Neil and I spent together on a weekend getaway so many years ago. This visit, like our previous visit, will be etched in our minds and hearts forever. What a memorable getaway and we can’t thank the gracious staff of Palace Hotel enough. Would it be too soon to come back for Valentine’s Day? Thank you Palace Hotel!

Wishing my room actually looked like this right now. It’s currently filled will piles of laundry waiting to be folded after our trip....
Disneyland 2026 🙌🏻 I made it ya’ll. Definitely sore, and fatigued and sleep deprived and the back pain is insane. But I did it. 🤣...
I debated jumping on the bandwagon to share my 2016 throwback. In all honesty, 2016 was the hardest year of my life. It’s something that I’m reminded of daily in this never ending cycle of chronic pain and illness. For those that are new here, in 2016 I underwent 3 surgeries within 4 days. My 14 level spine surgery consisted of 2 surgeries going through my back and side, and then I needed an emergency bowel resection 3 days later due to my colon twisting and flipping on itself. When I woke up from my spine surgery, I immediately moved my right foot and tried to then move my left. It turned out, they knicked my spinal cord and damaged it. I had no feeling in my left leg or foot. Didn’t know if I was moving it and it felt like nothing was there. I remember immediately panicking and because I still had a tube in my mouth, they gave me a paper to write down what was wrong. Drs came in and told my husband and I that they weren’t sure if I’d walk again and definitely sure I wouldn’t be dancing. I lost 25 lbs, a Picc line was put in to try and get me any nutrition. I threw up bile in bucket after bucket.
I didn’t see my kids for 3 1/2 weeks and then had to be moved to a nursing facility. Once home, I had nurses and PT that would come to our house because staying in that facility and not seeing my kids drove me insane (my youngest was only 17 months old). Neil had to shower me, and wipe my butt 🙈. I went through 18 months of PT pushing myself to prove them all wrong. When I think about the last 10 years (and 2016 in particular), it has been a nonstop uphill battle for me. During that same year, we learned that both our daughters would then be diagnosed with the same thing. This is why I keep pushing forward no matter how I feel mentally or physically. I need to show these kids that mama can handle it and I want them to remember how strong I’ve tried to be because some day they may be faced with this same decision. I played this song on repeat laying in the hospital.
