I am kicking off the first post on Champagne Colored Glasses to write about my favorite skincare products at the moment. Being a mom of four in my thirties, I know I am not getting any younger and it seems daily I am finding new wrinkles and more of those dreaded sun spots. Can I blame some of these wrinkles on the stress from my kids? I am willing to try anything, within reason, to slow down the inevitable. So let’s get started, shall we?
1. Peter Thomas Roth 24k Hydra-Gel Eye Patches
I LOVE these things. After using my Clarisonic and mask, I put these bad boys on at night while getting the kids ready for bed. Not only do they really soak into the skin and make my under eye feel so much smoother, but who doesn’t want some glitz and glam in their skin products? Romans used gold preparations for treatment of skin lesions and sores and it’s also believed that Cleopatra wore pure gold for a radiant complexion. It acts as an anti-inflammatory and is an antioxidant as well. I am totally up for trying new products and this one I will definitely keep in my arsenal!
2. Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask and 24k Gold Mask
I lumped these two together because I go back and forth between them. I am obsessed with PTR’s whole line of masks and use one every 3-4 days. My collection includes the Rose Stem Cell Mask, Irish Moor Mud Mask and these two I have listed. Personally, I find myself using the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask more frequently than the others. It literally smells like you could eat it. The pumpkin mask does an excellent job exfoliating my skin leaving it feeling super clean and polished.
3. Fresh Sugar Lip Polish
The first time I tried this, it was a sample my sister-in-law gave me a few years ago and since then, I use it every so often to keep my lips feeling soft and smooth. The polish is enriched with brown sugar crystals that help but away flakes and dead skin. This is an absolute must for anyone who wants softer lips!
4. Peter Thomas Roth 24k Un-Wrinkle Sheet Mask
Can you tell I like Peter Thomas Roth products? I know, I know. I really dig this skincare line. These are really neat sheet masks that leave my face feeling very similar to the eye patches. One time, I put one of these on and snuck up to the door of my two girls and scared them. It was hilarious and they are pretty funny looking when on. I don’t use these as often as the other masks, but do let them work their magic on me a few times a month.
5. Kate Somerville Tanning Towelettes
These are super portable and mess free. They are like those towelettes you get after eating a huge BBQ rib dinner at restaurants except bigger and so much better! I used these for the first time last summer and was pleasantly surprised how evenly my tan looked. I also didn’t appear orange.
6. Clarisonic Mia and Refreshing Cleanser
This is probably the one thing I use most out of all my skincare products. This tool does the best job cleansing your skin removing dirt and oil 6 times better than hands. You can also customize it with different brush heads to meet your needs and use other cleansers if you feel so inclined. It’s waterproof and rechargeable and doesn’t take up much room on your bathroom counter. Do yourself a favor and buy this product. I can’t say enough good things about it!
7. Peter Thomas Roth 3% Retinoid Plus Serum
I promise this is the last PTR product I write about today. I use this almost every night before bed. Not only does it help smooth out wrinkles and get rid of sun spots, but it has also helped prevent pimples and acne for me. This high potency serum helps enhance skin tone while improving the look of lines and wrinkles. I also want to note this formula is free of parabens, sulphates and phthalates!
8. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment
I keep this in my purse and use it throughout the day. It’s super hydrating and I love that it has SPF protection. They have various colors to choose from and it does an awesome job smoothing, moisturizing and protecting the lips.
9. PMD Pro
This is a newer purchase for me from Costco, although plenty of other places sell it as well. I got an amazing deal I just couldn’t pass up on Black Friday. I make this my Monday ritual and use it once per week. This is like having a salon microdermabrasion service in the comfort of your own home. It comes with a combination of 7 different discs for your face, body and skin type and it’s made with the same aluminum oxide crystals professionals use to buff away dead and dull skin cells. The result is smoother, more radiant skin and it soaks skincare products up 20 times more. So far, I am pleasantly surprised how easy it is to use and that it actually works!

Wishing my room actually looked like this right now. It’s currently filled will piles of laundry waiting to be folded after our trip....
Disneyland 2026 🙌🏻 I made it ya’ll. Definitely sore, and fatigued and sleep deprived and the back pain is insane. But I did it. 🤣...
I debated jumping on the bandwagon to share my 2016 throwback. In all honesty, 2016 was the hardest year of my life. It’s something that I’m reminded of daily in this never ending cycle of chronic pain and illness. For those that are new here, in 2016 I underwent 3 surgeries within 4 days. My 14 level spine surgery consisted of 2 surgeries going through my back and side, and then I needed an emergency bowel resection 3 days later due to my colon twisting and flipping on itself. When I woke up from my spine surgery, I immediately moved my right foot and tried to then move my left. It turned out, they knicked my spinal cord and damaged it. I had no feeling in my left leg or foot. Didn’t know if I was moving it and it felt like nothing was there. I remember immediately panicking and because I still had a tube in my mouth, they gave me a paper to write down what was wrong. Drs came in and told my husband and I that they weren’t sure if I’d walk again and definitely sure I wouldn’t be dancing. I lost 25 lbs, a Picc line was put in to try and get me any nutrition. I threw up bile in bucket after bucket.
I didn’t see my kids for 3 1/2 weeks and then had to be moved to a nursing facility. Once home, I had nurses and PT that would come to our house because staying in that facility and not seeing my kids drove me insane (my youngest was only 17 months old). Neil had to shower me, and wipe my butt 🙈. I went through 18 months of PT pushing myself to prove them all wrong. When I think about the last 10 years (and 2016 in particular), it has been a nonstop uphill battle for me. During that same year, we learned that both our daughters would then be diagnosed with the same thing. This is why I keep pushing forward no matter how I feel mentally or physically. I need to show these kids that mama can handle it and I want them to remember how strong I’ve tried to be because some day they may be faced with this same decision. I played this song on repeat laying in the hospital.

I love that you mentioned the Clarisonic. Mine finally bit the dust. So many have laughed at me and tried to tell me all brusges are the same. Im thankful you also appreciate its quality and perfprmance. Also, like you i thought since i didnt see a lot of sun damage I was ok. Its something we all should take serioudly.

I am most interested in trying the Peter Thomas Roth 24k Hydra-Gel Eye Patches.

I’ve always wanted to try a Clarisonic, but I have such oily skin, when I use any kind of scrub it just irritates it and causes a break out. I’ve heard these are gentler though. Thoughts?
