As most of you know, my husband, Neil, and I try and take the time to go on a date night once month. In a perfect world, we would do this more often. However, juggling the kids, sports practice, ballet, work and everything else, it’s pretty amazing if we escape to dinner alone at all. We chose to take a trip out to San Francisco for the day and eat dinner at Palomino’s San Francisco.
Driving out to the city is one of my favorite things to do. When I found that Palomino’s was conveniently located on the Embarcadero with an amazing view of the Bay Bridge, I was sold. Who doesn’t want to have the perfect date night dinner looking out at the blue starry sky and lit up bridge?
The courtyard that leads up to Palomino is so inviting and pretty. It really is a great location. Since we got there a tad early, we walked around the courtyard and sat on the bench to chat for a while before heading into the restaurant.

We were seated at a table along the window in the dining area. What a view it was! I can’t get over how close to the bay bridge we actually were. As dinner progressed, the sun set and the bridge’s white lights lit up the night sky.
We started off our meal with drinks and appetizers. I ordered a Sparkling Raspberry Mojito while Neil decided to go with the server, Justin’s, recommendation, and order a Lavender Cosmo. Hey, real men drink pretty purple cocktails too! Since I am a seafood lover, we picked out the Crab and Artichoke Dip and Chips to go along with the Tomato-Basil Bruschetta.

I must say besides my husband’s mojito recipe, this was the best mojito I have ever had when dining out. I am an avid champagne drinker, but my other go-to has always been a mojito. This totally exceeded my expectations and I definitely recommend ordering it if you make the trip out here. Their signature lavender cosmo was also very delicious and we were excited to get our “grub on”.

The Crab and Artichoke Dip was so scrumptious, I could have licked the bowl clean. Don’t worry, I wouldn’t embarrass my husband like that, but just know, I definitely would have! Ha! What I loved about the dip was that it wasn’t skimpy on the crab and artichoke and the seasoning was perfection. The bruschetta was also super yummy and had us eager to order our main courses.
Our server, Justin, who was outstanding, recommended the Ragù Di Carne and the Organic Rottisserie Chicken. The Ragù came with fresh burrata, which is my favorite, and tasted like a wonderful beef stroganoff done Italian style. The meat was tender and the burrata gave it that nice touch to complete the dish. I definitely will be ordering this again when we dine here in the future. I also want to mention, I continuously stole bites of the mashed potatoes and chicken from Neil’s plate. I had my eye on the Fresh Roma and Mozzarella Pizza, so we ordered that as well. It made yummy leftovers once we arrived back home.

Even though our bellies were so full from dinner, we managed to make room for dessert. Hands down, the BEST Tiramisu we have ever had! I kid you not. It was so rich and decadent and Neil and I fought over who got the next bite. I tried to stake my claim and make it mine, but it was just too good not to share with him. We also ordered the Orange Ricotta Donuts as well as the Almond Crusted Limoncello Cake. Every single bite was delicious. They have a fun way of serving the donuts at your table. They are freshly shaken in a paper bag before being put on the plate. It was a great way to serve them especially if you bring your kids in to dine here.

After we finished dinner, we walked out onto their patio to take in the view of the bridge. What a romantic way to end our evening out. This date was just what we needed to reconnect and become refreshed for the next crazy few weeks with the holidays and work. We will be in the city in the next couple weeks, and that Tiramisu is calling to me. Perhaps we will make a return visit sooner than we anticipated! Mmmmm, so incredibly yummy!

Wishing my room actually looked like this right now. It’s currently filled will piles of laundry waiting to be folded after our trip....
Disneyland 2026 🙌🏻 I made it ya’ll. Definitely sore, and fatigued and sleep deprived and the back pain is insane. But I did it. 🤣...
I debated jumping on the bandwagon to share my 2016 throwback. In all honesty, 2016 was the hardest year of my life. It’s something that I’m reminded of daily in this never ending cycle of chronic pain and illness. For those that are new here, in 2016 I underwent 3 surgeries within 4 days. My 14 level spine surgery consisted of 2 surgeries going through my back and side, and then I needed an emergency bowel resection 3 days later due to my colon twisting and flipping on itself. When I woke up from my spine surgery, I immediately moved my right foot and tried to then move my left. It turned out, they knicked my spinal cord and damaged it. I had no feeling in my left leg or foot. Didn’t know if I was moving it and it felt like nothing was there. I remember immediately panicking and because I still had a tube in my mouth, they gave me a paper to write down what was wrong. Drs came in and told my husband and I that they weren’t sure if I’d walk again and definitely sure I wouldn’t be dancing. I lost 25 lbs, a Picc line was put in to try and get me any nutrition. I threw up bile in bucket after bucket.
I didn’t see my kids for 3 1/2 weeks and then had to be moved to a nursing facility. Once home, I had nurses and PT that would come to our house because staying in that facility and not seeing my kids drove me insane (my youngest was only 17 months old). Neil had to shower me, and wipe my butt 🙈. I went through 18 months of PT pushing myself to prove them all wrong. When I think about the last 10 years (and 2016 in particular), it has been a nonstop uphill battle for me. During that same year, we learned that both our daughters would then be diagnosed with the same thing. This is why I keep pushing forward no matter how I feel mentally or physically. I need to show these kids that mama can handle it and I want them to remember how strong I’ve tried to be because some day they may be faced with this same decision. I played this song on repeat laying in the hospital.
