Can you believe it’s already November?! I literally turned on the T.V. this weekend and low and behold, it was “Countdown to Christmas”. Although the busy holiday season is rapidly upon us, I wanted to take a moment to write another Monday Motivation post to talk about self love and 10 things you should remind yourself of daily. Although it’s a jam packed season, you must make sure to take the time for yourself and today on CCG, I wanted to inspire you to become motivated for the week ahead with a post about self love.
I believe affirmations play an important role in shaping how we live everyday. You are what you tell yourself. Other peoples opinions do not count unless you want them to. Have you ever been in that position where you let what others say shape how you feel about yourself? It’s only natural to occasionally take it to heart. What I have learned over the last couple years is to forget about the criticism and judgements from peers and even myself and focus on what makes me unique. There will always be those select few who feel it’s their job (which it isn’t), to solicit that unwarranted criticism or try to make you feel inferior. Whether this is happening in your life or not, it’s always a great idea to practice self-care and stay positive and optimistic.
What did you say or think to yourself the last time you looked at yourself in the mirror? Did you think positively or were you critical and full of judgement? Have you ever took two minutes in the morning to do just that…..stare at yourself in the mirror? It may sound like a weird thing to do; I get it. Before and immediately following my surgeries, I did not have confidence or much self love if I am being completely honest. Originally, when I would look at myself in the mirror, I saw the deformed physical characteristics and someone who was very depressed. This was something that took me a long time to get passed. Over time it eventually seeped into other aspects of my life, making it impossible to think about anything else. After a really difficult day, I remember reading late at night online about a therapist who recommended taking a couple minutes everyday to practice self-love. Of course, staring at myself felt awkward and silly, however, over two weeks of testing this method out each day, I came to realize it DID have an impact on how I went about my day and my mood. I can honestly say, after two years, I still practice this most mornings while I put my make-up on. I challenge you all to test it out yourself and let me know how it made you feel! Below, I have listed my favorite 10 things you should remind yourself of daily.
Whether you implement this in your life or not, I would love to hear your thoughts on ways you practice self love! Amongst the chaos in my life with work, blogging, the responsibilities of having four kids and medical issues of not just me but three of my kids, I find myself needing to utilize these techniques more than usual. Reading my inspirational quotes and using techniques like this, has absolutely helped me. So, when you see my post on Instagram sharing an inspirational quote, it’s not just me trying to find something to fill into a caption. I actually DO read these and try to live by the ones that resonate with me most each day.
